Background

The attraction was founded by two brothers, Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par, the inventors of Tiger Balm. In fact, it was initially called Tiger Balm Gardens and was built in 1937. In 1986 the park was modernised following an investment of $30 million.

Attractions

The park is iconic for its various dioramas that depict a variety of scenes from ancient novels or works of literature from Chinese history. These works include Journey to the West, Fengshen Bang, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

The Ten Courts of Hell

This particular attraction is what the park is most famous for, even to the point of notoriety. This exhibit showcases several macabre depictions of Hell according to Chinese mythology. These graphic images include people being tortured and even dismembered.
