Sky Dining In Singapore Flyer

A Meal to Remember!

The Singapore Flyer, located on reclaimed land on the south eastern tip of the island, is a giant Ferris wheel. At a height of 165 metres, the Ferris wheel is about forty two storeys tall making it the tallest in the world, beating the London Eye (135 metres) and the Star of Nanchang (160 metres). Constructed between 2005 and 2008, the wheel itself only has a diameter of 150 metres and offers amazing views of not only the city, but of parts of Malaysia and the Indonesian islands of Bintan and Batam. The Singapore Flyer had its official opening in March 2008, and is one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions. It sits atop a three storey building filled with shops and restaurants.

A complete rotation takes about half an hour. The wheel consists of twenty eight air conditioned capsules, each capable of holding up to twenty eight passengers. The design was intentional; the number twenty eight holds special significance, and means ‘easy to prosper’ in Cantonese. The Ferris wheel also originally spun counter clockwise but the direction was changed to improve its ‘feng shui’. Riding the Singapore Flyer offers loads of fun and tourists visiting the island should consider taking a ride. If possible one should try to take a meal aboard the wheel. The one of a kind dining experience will no doubt be a magical experience.

The three course meal is prepared by some of the finest chefs in the country and the menu changes monthly. The welcome drinks and entrées are served during the first rotation, the main course during the second, and dessert is served in the VIP lounge in the terminal building. For complete privacy one can book the entire cabin. Diners will also be treated to a bird’s eye view of some of Singapore’s biggest landmarks. The F1 Circuit, the famed Helix Bridge, the Singapore River, Fort Canning Park and the Collyer Quay can all be seen from this vantage point.

Being a prime attraction, the Singapore Flyer is easily accessible by public transport such as the MRT. Those looking for accommodation such as hotel apartments Singapore will find it advantageous to find residences close to an MRT station. La Residenza Serviced Suites provides some of the finest serviced apartments Singapore and offers a plethora of services including a shuttle bus to the MRT station.
