Singapore Nightlife

Pubbing and clubbing should be on top of the list for anyone wanting to experience the pulse of Singapore after dark. Although some areas are known for their vibrant nightlife, many areas in the city have pubs, nightclubs and bars thus making it easy to party the night away. Almost all the clubs have live music or DJs and all genres of music are embraced. The clubs are also known for their wild and creative drink concoctions to keep ahead of the competition.

The Central Business District may be the place for serious business during the day but after dark the areas of Orchard Road, Riverside and part of Chinatown generate a whole different atmosphere. A series of clubs, restaurants and bars located on Far East Square, Raffles Quay, Shenton Way and Marina Bay provide the best atmosphere in which to let one’s hair down. Several upmarket hotels from old elegance to modern and stylish in the CBD set the pace and provide some of the best places to spend time after dark whether it is formal or casual dining or that perfect cocktail.

Civic District nightlife appears to be among the best in the city with a host of cool clubs and chic bars. Try Balaclava at Suntec City Mall, Harry’s Bar at several locations, Loff a lighthearted rooftop club, and Stereo Lounge with its Latin inspired cuisine and the best of drinks served together with an exceptional aural experience. The Supper Club is another destination offering an eclectic selection of music and fusion cuisine. Several posh hotels in the locality also provide the ultimate in after dark entertainment. Partying can never get better than this.

Concept bars, pubs, retail outlets, restaurants and recreational places along the Singapore River characterize Clarke and Boat Quays. Clarke Quay is certainly one of the best places to go for a great night out.

Another popular after dark destination is Holland Village with its a plethora of restaurants serving all types of cuisine and teeming with bars and nightclubs the younger set and expatriates seem to gravitate to.

Nightlife in the Marina Bay area is dominated by the Marina Bay Sands, a one stop shop for dining, wining, entertainment and gaming. Once visitors enter through its portals there is no need to go anywhere else. You can even stay the night.

An eclectic collection of restaurants and bars and entertainment options such as music recitals and theatrical performances can be found at Chijmes a restored monastic complex. For those wishing to take in some excellent theatrical performances of an evening the Esplanade is the place. The adjacent Esplanade Mall features excellent restaurants with some of the best views in town.

Mohamed Sultan Road is the new kid on the block attracting pub crawlers to the several restaurants and bars that have taken up residence in the old go downs there.

For a different experience head to Sentosa where the relaxed ambience of the many beachfront cafés and bars will encourage you to kick off your shoes and let your hair down. Or else head to Resort World Sentosa where there is fun and adventure for the whole family night or day.

Enjoy the many excellent live music acts with original compositions and interpretations of existing music at dedicated music venues such as Timbre and TAB.

Any description of Singapore’s nightlife should include the Long Bar at Raffles Hotel where patrons toss their peanut shells on the floor and where the cocktail synonymous with the city, Singapore Sling was invented.

Other nighttime attractions in the city include the famous Night Safari involving over 1,000 animals and enlivened by cultural performances including tribal dances, blow pipe and fire eating demonstrations.

Another famous nighttime attraction is the Singapore Grand Prix and its accompanying entertainment to be held in September in 2012.
