Singapore Zoo

“Singapore zoo/Night Safari well worth the trip”

This is one of the best zoos I have visited. It is an open-air zoo, so you can get very close to the animals. My favorite was a butterfly house which also had lemurs walking right next to you, fox bats that you could reach out and touch if you were crazy enough, etc. They had a sea lion show, and my highlight was a ride on an elephant. It took more time than I thought…the animals were fascinating. In the evening we went to the Night Safari. That was good and very unique, but I actually enjoyed the day zoo better. Both are highlights on the Singapore trip.

Bath Culture Foot Therapy

“Fantastic way to end a day in Singapore”

Having seen this rated as the #3 attraction in Tripadvisor, we headed for Chinatown for a fantastic vegetarian meal at the 8 Treasures and then went round the corner for a massage. My wife and I chose the foot bath and neck massage (20 mins) followed by 40 min foot massage for S$69 each (before a 10% discount). It was amazing and I cannot recommend it highly enough as the perfect way to end a day in Singapore.

National Orchid Garden

“Stunning!”

Beautiful part of the Botanical Gardens and well worth the SGD5 price (SGD1 for seniors!). It can be a bit crowded and hot, as many places in Singapore, but with a bottle of water and a relaxed pace you’ll be fine. Look up, down and around, the flowers are breathtaking.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

//www.sbg.org.sg/index.asp

“WOW”

The botanical gardens are amazing in Singapore, if a similar attraction was in London you would pay through the nose to get in, however in Singapore, it’s free! We also ate lunch in the restaurant, it was pretty good and very cheap. The orchid gardens are also attached although you do pay a nominal fee to enter. overall a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

Flight Experience Singapore

“Fantastic experience”

Flight simulator a real unique experience For me was a dream which finally I make it true. The experience is fantastic The sense is so good and realistic that you think that you are really flying all the time. I was in the building of flight simulator I had an enormous smile as a kid waits for his candy. If you find yourself in Singapore don’t loose the occasion to live a real experience of flight as a pilot. Everybody on the company are kind and willing to answer to all your questions, I must say a big bravo and a big thanks for this experience it was just great.

Cookery Magic

“A great day out at Pulau Uin”

As a Singaporean, I’d only ever been to Pulau Ubin for seafood. Little did I know, that the little island contained so much history, and natural foods! I took my Swiss cousin and his wife to Cookery Magic’s class at Pulau Ubin in a 200 year old wooden village house. Ruqxana, who’s s a self taught cook, took us on a tour of the grounds, showing us various herbs and spices that grow there. For someone who thinks that herbs and spices come from a packet in the supermarket, it was really eye-opening to see traditional herbs and spices in its natural form. Ruqxana was personable as well as knowledgeable and genuinely loves what she does. I found her to be really inspiring and it was a fantastic day out for me, the foodie Singaporean, and my Swiss cousins, who learned a lot more about their heritage.

Singapore Flyer

“Fantastic experience.”

It was so hassle free and no queue. The staff could not have been more pleasant. We went in the evening and it was pretty seeing all the lights. I would go again in the day time to get a different view of the place. Not at all scary, even for someone who is a little iffy about heights

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

//www.nparks.gov.sg

“Ace”

We stayed with friends just behind bukit timah nature reserve and decided to check it out one afternoon. After walking up the steepest hill ever we headed around the reserve on the trails for well over three hours. It’s an amazing area and we enjoyed checking out some of the crazy twirling tree roots (see pics) and the monkeys hanging out in the trees.

Sentosa Orchid Gardens

“Good break from travelling”

Spent some time at this attraction with my parents when we had a stopover on the way to oz. It was a good relaxing way to spend a few hours and look at some very beautiful flowers.

National Museum of Singapore

//www.nationalmuseum.sg/

“Gives very good overview of history and culture of Singapore”

I visited the History, Culture, and Food sections of the museum. It is worthwhile just going to the History section which is pretty extensive and provides very good background of Singapore. It gave me a much deeper appreciation of Singapore particularly around its transformation to the economic and financial hub through various challenges after the WWII. You get discount if you present your Singapore airline boarding pass.
