Sentosa Island

Explore Singapore's Resort Capital

Often described as a veritable institution in Singapore’s diverse touristic landscape, Sentosa Island is an icon in its own right in the Lion City. As one of the must-experience highlights for visitors touring Singapore, Sentosa Island exemplifies the country’s touristic prowess as the popular resort haven has grown from a regional recreation space to a renowned leisure powerhouse in a matter of decades. Attracting an impressive 5 million visitors each year, the venue has become a staple in the Singaporean tourist experience.

The locale’s most iconic space is of course the site of the Merlion Statue where a photograph of the national symbol of the country must simply be taken. Twelve stories high, the venue also offers panoramic views of Sentosa Island while the Sentosa Luge & Skyride and the Tiger Sky Tower which measures in at 131m in height also offer visitors spectacular views of the resort’s heartland.

Universal Studios also calls this spacious enclave home and visitors can experience 24 theme park attractions including the world’s largest collection of DreamWorks themed points of interest in this 50 acre enclave that is part of Resort World Sentosa. Beach fanatics however explore the island’s 2km long beachfront which has been separated in to three beaches named Tanjong Beach, Palawan Beach and Siloso Beach. Adrenalin junkies can engage in rollerblading, mountain biking, skim boarding and canoeing activities at Siloso Beach while Palawan houses trendy bars and other recreational facilities. Over 15,000 butterflies call the Sentosa Butterfly Park home while it’s Insect Kingdom also showcases 3000 of the globe’s most curious creepy crawlies.

Regarded as a food lover’s dream come true, Sentosa Island is home to some of the Lion City’s best restaurants and eateries as well. Must-try highlights include the Mega Tian Siang Hot Pot Restaurant and the Tiger Skybar while Sarpino’s Pizzeria offers mouth-watering Italian fare. A Mövenpick Ice Cream Parlour is also part of the landscape while croissants and coffee can be enjoyed at the locale’s Délifrance Café.
