Jurong Bird Park | My Singapore Travel

Jurong Bird Park

Built on the western slope of Jurong Hill the Jurong Bird Park is a famous tourist attraction managed by the Wildlife reserves Singapore. Spread over 50 acres of land in the Jurong District this beautiful bird park was an attempt to provide Singaporeans solace from their busy urban life. Locals and tourists alike visit the park to relax and enjoy the lush greenery that surrounds these exotic birds.

Today a world famous zoo, with a collection of birds from around the world, and a host of Flamingos, this park has been identified as the second largest zoo in the world both in terms of land area and in terms of bird species. 2006 saw the park completing a 10 million dollar makeover, which included the addition of a gift shop, an Ice cream parlous and a dedicated Bird hospital for conservation and medical treatment to the park premises. There are 5000 birds in the park belonging to 380 species. Of these birds 29 species of bird are endangered ones.

With the tallest man made waterfall standing 30 meters high the park’s African waterfall aviary is the world’s largest aviary with 600 free flying birds. Ostriches and Cassowaries are found in the Dinosaur Descendants and the 9 stories high Lorry Loft has the largest lories and lorikeets collection in the world. Adults and children alike enjoy the adorable Penguins of five species in the Penguin Coast.

Apart from this there are several entertainment shows at the park such as The High Fliers, The Kings Of The Sky and Lunch With The Parrots. For an amazing experience with these birds and a wealth of information visit the Jurong park and be amazed while you explore Amazing Singapore.
