Currently though the museum has transferred most of its zoological artifacts to NUS. The museum currently houses eleven precious artifacts.

When the architecture of the building is taken into account , the design follows a Neo – Palladian and Renaissance Style and consists of two rectangular blocks that are set parallel and a Dome at the front of the building.

Being one of the key cultural land marks of Singapore the museum serves as a venue for various festivals throughout the year. There are many film screenings, art installations and notable night festivals that take place at the museum.
